Volunteer

This is a plant that shows up on it's own. It's a "not planted" specimen blown in from a neighbor's yard, a surprise, from a bird or other animal, or perennials that have gone to seed from your own garden. This term can also be applied to your best friend, helping out once in a while in the garden.
