Slime Flux

A disease caused by a bacteria which enters through a wound in the bark of a tree. The wound can be from pruning or, if in the forest, from the impact of other falling trees. This disease results in persistent, bad-smelling, bleeding cankers on the stem or at the base of many species of hardwoods.
