Root Pruning

The reduction of root length as a horticultural operation. This is done in two instances. One when repotting from one pot to another, roots that have grown in a circle (root bound) are trimmed to promote future growth. Also, when planting into the garden or landscape, a plant may need root pruning to remove possible damaged roots and encourage growth or to check vegetative growth.
