Potassium

One of the three nutrients in a complete fertilizer, designated by the chemical symbol K. Also known as pot ash, the symbol K comes from the Latin kalium meaning alkali. Potassium is important in the development of flowers and fruits and helps to make sturdy plants resistant to wind, cold, drought, and other stresses.
