Landscaping

Improving the natural beauty of a piece of land either by planting flowers, shrubs, and trees or by altering the contours of the ground.

Landscaping is further defined as being either hard or soft. Soft landscaping consists of vegetation such as the aforementioned flowers, shrubs and trees, as well as hedges, grasses, and ground covers. Hard landscaping consisting of non-vegetation materials such as brick, stone, concrete, tile and wood, forming paths, retaining walls, arbors, gazebos and other outdoor structures.
