Genus
A method of classifying groups (subdivisions of a family ) of related plants.
Additional Information
Genus is the plant equivalent of our surnames. These plants are closely related and having certain obvious structural characteristics in common. When followed by the name of the "species" you have it's botanical name. (almost always in Latin).

The genus Rosa groups all roses.
