Cultivar Group

An association of related cultivars with a species, subspecies, or variety due to common origin or groups of traits.

Typically a cultivar group originates from a single popular cultivar which has many sports or seedlings that differ from it in small ways. In some cases these may be parallel genetic mutations or even have linked genes but no common history.
